Choose or draw a suitable A3 border sheet and start drawing. (do not draw the dimensions these are for guidance only)

At a scale of 2:1 the bolt assembly will be drawn twice actual size SIDE VIEWFRONT VIEW

Start drawing construction lines for the centre of the side view

Use a 30/60 Set Square and a T Square to draw a construction line through the centre of the hexagon

Flip the Set Square and draw another construction line through the centre of the hexagon

Draw a vertical line 17mm from centre with the set square and T square

Use the Set Square again..

to complete one corner

Repeat this to get the other corners

Rub out the angled construction lines and thicken the hexagon outline.

Add three circles to complete the side view. (The thread should be shown as 10mm and 9mm circles)

Project construction lines lines across to start the front view

Start to draw the bolt front view 50 mm from the side view

Position the nut front view somewhere on the bolt. (this can be anywhere along the length of the bolt threaded section)

Now rubout the construction lines to see the front view layout

Draw the centre lines and lines to show the thread (1mm in from each side of the bolt)

Draw a thin 16mm circle on the nut as shown

Trim the circle to make an arc and draw two more arcs in the positions shown on the nut and the bolt

Draw vertical construction lines from these arcs

Draw smaller arcs in the positions shown

Trim corners on the front view thicken outlines and rub out construction lines

Complete the Assembly by labelling the parts and describing these on a parts list
