3. Questions to Think About…  What is the proper response to the gift of faith?  Who are the people of God?  What is the difference between the common and ministerial priesthood?  What is the vocation of the laity?

4. What is the proper response to the gift of faith?  Our proper response to God’s gift to faith is trust in Him and belief in the truths He has revealed, because God can neither deceive nor be deceived.

What is the difference between the common and ministerial priesthood?  All members of the Church share in the common priesthood of the faithful and are called by the virtue of their Baptism to offer their lives to God.  Some members of the Faithful are ordained to the ministerial priesthood for the service of the rest.

7. What is the vocation of the laity?  The vocation of the laity us to seek the Kingdom of God by engaging in temporal affairs and by ordering them according to the plan of God.

10. What is the universal call to holiness?  All Christians in every state of life are called to holiness, which is the fullness of the Christian life and the perfection of charity.

11. What is the liturgy?  The Liturgy is the Church’s official public worship-the worship of God by the People of God.

12. What is the liturgical year?  The liturgical year is the calendar of observation that celebrates the entire life of Christ, beginning in Advent and ending the last Sunday before Advent.

16. How do sacraments correspond to human nature?  One reason God used sacraments to confer grace to humanity is because they offer visible signs to confer invisible graces and thus correspond to human nature, which is a composite of a visible material body and an invisible immaterial soul.

What is Baptism?  Baptism is the first Sacrament received by a Christian, involving immersion or pouring of water on the recipient’s head while pronouncing the invocation of the Blessed Trinity.  Baptism forgives sins, including Original Sin, begins a new life in Christ, and incorporates the new Christian into the life of the Church, the Body of Christ.  It is first of the three Sacraments of Initiation.  Video: Why is Baptism Important? 37. How do we see Evangelists?  We carry out Christ’s mandate to evangelize by the witness of our Christian lives and our ability to explain our Faith at the right time.

38. What are the various Christian vocations?  The three primary vocations to the Christian life are Holy Orders, religious life, and the lay state.

39. How does family life contribute to holiness of life?  Marriage and family life provide the special opportunities to grow in holiness.

43. What is the apostolate of the laity?  The lay apostolate is the laity’s work of building up the Church, according to their gifts and talents in the family, the workplace, the Church’s formal work and culture and politics.

44. What is the responsibility of the laity in public life?  In public life, the laity has the responsibility of promoting the common good.

45. What is the consecrated life?  Some people are called to live the evangelical counsels of chastity, poverty, and obedience in the consecrated life.

46. What are the main forms of consecrated life today?  The three main types of consecrated life today are religious orders and congregations, societies for apostolic life, and secular institutes.
