Sales Presentation (Brakecore Supply Co) Advanced Braking Technology Ltd

2 Company Structure Advanced Braking Technology Ltd is an Australian publically-listed company based in Perth, Western Australia. Engineering, design and testing in Perth head office. Wholly-owned manufacturing facility in Laemchabang, Thailand. Recently changed name from Safe Effect. Approx 45 employees in Thailand and Australia.

3 Company Activities Manufacture and sale of SIBS® - a unique high value braking product. Active supplier to mining and mining service companies. Develop ‘Braking Solutions’ for customer specific applications.

4 Production Activities
ISO 9001 certified production operation in Thailand. All suppliers selected and qualified. Production processes confirmed. Production Capacity: currently 250 – 300 sets per month.

5 Sealed Integrated Braking System What is SIBS ? High speed, wet brake.
Safe and reliable braking in the harshest environments. No harmful brake emissions.

6 Overview of Technology
Patented Sealed Integrated Braking System. SINGLE ROTOR enclosed in an oil filled housing. Rear brake fitted with fail-safe feature. Front brake key features: Fixed calipers, rotor allowed to float on a spline to transfer torque to hub and to allow for any pad wear & misalignment 4 x pistons on inner housing Housing seal Filled approx 1/3 of SIBS® fluid – specially formulated light mineral oil. Acts to transfer heat from rotor to housings & then to outside. Pads have grooves designed to rapidly remove. Rear brake key features Only 2 x service pistons, but also 4 x spring applied hydraulic release park / emergency brake pistons

7 SIBS Key Features Enclosed housings. Heavy duty shaft seals
Specially formulated SIBS® fluid – approx 1/3 full. Grooved pads. Brake vented to atmosphere. Spring applied, hydraulic release park brake.

8 Why Sealed Brakes? Conventional brakes under normal road conditions can perform adequately but in harsh mining environments have the following problems: Exposed rotor and pads. Parts wear and corrode due to particle / water ingress. High maintenance and increased downtime. No fail-safe features.

9 Effective Temperature Control - Safer Brakes !
Brake pads in conventional braking systems wear quickly due to heat. The more an application is required to stop, the temperature increases ... brake materials soften and the force generation ability reduces, resulting in fade. The less friction there is, the less safe it is. SIBS® is the safest brake. A patented cooling system in SIBS® allows the brake to remain constantly cooler. This means negligible brake pad wear. SIBS® eliminates heat related problems, delivering safe and reliable braking. Effective Temperature Control - Safer Brakes !

10 Brake Pad Wear Rate SIBS® brake pad wear rates are substantially lower than conventional pads over the same operating conditions. Grooved Brake Pad The conventional dry brake pad is worn out compared to SIBS® grooved brake pad .. which still remains its shape. SIBS® 2 x Grooved Brake Pads per side Conventionall Dry Brake Pad

11 Benefits of SIBS Purchase decision can be justified on cost savings.
1. Enclosed brakes. Exclusion of abrasive particles from critical braking surfaces resulting in: Extremely low wear rate. Life time cost saving benefit. Zero Emissions (see next slide). 2. Wet brake. Effective temperature management & low wear rates. 3. High speed capability. Single rotor design eliminates parasitic drag and heat buildup within the brake. Can operate on highways and in the harshest environments. Purchase decision can be justified on cost savings.

12 Brake Emissions Enclosed brake means zero emissions.
Studies have shown that vehicle brakes are now a significant emitter of airborne particles. This is particularly bad in and around intersections. Brake pad emissions include harmful heavy metals such as copper, lead and barium 1,2. These find their way into the water supply from storm water run off 3. Its not only the hassle of keeping your rims free from brake dust ! 1. Allaban, Gillies et al. Tailpipe, resuspended road dust and brake wear emission factors from on-road vehicles. 13 EMMA Fail Safe Brake Brings vehicle to controlled stop in case of emergency. Can be activated by driver or engages automatically in event of vehicle malfunction eg hydraulic/electrical circuit failure. Can be configured with safety interlocks: eg vehicle doors not closed properly Extra safeguard in frustrating and distractive working conditions

14 Stringently tested SIBS® has a proven record in the most rugged operating environments and is certified for on-road use. Independently passed: ECE R13, recently passed by TÜV, Germany. Australian Design Rule (ADR) testing - passed ADR 35/01. South African Bureau of Safety (SABS 1207 / ECE-R13). Various mine & company level certification.

15 A Compelling Proposition
COST SAVING Enclosed design prevents ingress of abrasive materials Oil cools the brake and maintains low operating temperature REDUCED WEAR SAFER BRAKES Fail safe spring applied rear brake Zero Emissions to the environment Reduced wear means consistent, safer braking IMPROVED SAFETY
