3  Source—a person, publication, or object that gives information

4  A Source can be divided into two main categories 1. Primary 2. Secondary

5  Primary  A Primary Source is an original account of an event.  Produced by people who participated in or witnessed the past.  Primary can include:  Audio—oral histories or memoirs, interviews, music  Images—photographs, videos  Objects—clothing tools, pottery, gravestones, inventions, weapons, memorabilia  Text—letters, diaries, maps

8  Secondary Sources  Provides “second hand” information that has been analyzed, reworded, or interpreted  Examples  REFERENCE BOOK( encyclopedia)  Articles( Magazines, Wikipedia)  HISTORY TEXTBOOKS
