Source—a person, publication, or object that gives information

A Source can be divided into two main categories 1. Primary 2. Secondary

Primary A Primary Source is an original account of an event. Produced by people who participated in or witnessed the past. Primary can include: Audio—oral histories or memoirs, interviews, music Images—photographs, videos Objects—clothing tools, pottery, gravestones, inventions, weapons, memorabilia Text—letters, diaries, maps

Secondary Sources Provides “second hand” information that has been analyzed, reworded, or interpreted Examples REFERENCE BOOK( encyclopedia) Articles( Magazines, Wikipedia) HISTORY TEXTBOOKS
