American Attitudes Changing Attitudes About Cosmetic Surgery (February 2010) The American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery (AACS) released results of a consumer survey about current attitudes and perceptions relating to cosmetic surgery. The focus of the survey seems to be on how "accepted" it is in the mainstream to have had work done. –71% of survey respondents think society is now less judgmental about cosmetic surgery than it was even five years ago. –62% of respondents said that this less judgmental attitude has made them personally feel more comfortable about having a procedure now or in the future. Respondents over the age of 40 were only about half as likely as those under 40 to say they would consider having a procedure in the future. Furthermore, with all this supposed "acceptance", only about 52% said they would tell family if they were having a procedure. http://plasticsurgery.about.com/b/2010/02/02/changing-attitudes-about-cosmetic-surgery.htm

Panamanian Attitudes “We consider that in Panama Cosmetic Surgery is viewed as something natural if the person has the money to pay for it, fashion is always the main subject but there are also medical conditions and points of view to be consider, therefore some people accept it and others don’t” “Cosmetic Surgeons make lots of money here in Panama. Surgeries are not that expensive compared to other countries, but they have a high amount of clients” –--Arlen Atencio
