Creating a Testing Timeline Dates/ Deadlines SAT May 2 nd (Reg. Deadline of April 6 th ) June 6 th (Reg. Deadline of May 8 th ) October 3 rd (Reg. Deadline in September) ACT April 18 th (Late Reg. Guidance Seminars Meet as a class four times during 3 rd term Provides necessary tools and resources to begin narrowing down post secondary options Topics we cover: Naviance PSAT/SAT/ACT College/Career Search Preparing for Senior year Other options for students who miss seminar Before/After school sessions, online Webinar

March-June Plan college visits over April break Inform your Guidance Counselor if you have a trip planned Research and attend college fairs in the area National College Fair Boston-April 9 th Springfield-April 12 th -13 th Providence-April 14 th Look into possible summer opportunities i.e. internship/shadowing, summer college program, community service

March-June Use Naviance to continue planning college visits 6 excused absences to visit schools Ask a teacher for a letter of recommendation June (before summer) No more than 2 teachers Junior year (at least 1 core academic) Finish the year strong—final exams!

Summer Workshops Two summer programs through Lifelong Learning: Writing Your College Essay Taught by FHS English Faculty 4 sessions starting July 6 th Common Application Bootcamp Taught by FHS Guidance August 4-6 and August 11-13

September Finalize list of schools-meet with Guidance Counselor Register with the Common Application Register for any fall SAT/ACT tests (if necessary) October, November, December Explore Early Action/Early Decision and what is right for you Follow up with teacher’s writing a letter of recommendation Attend our Senior Parent Night!
