His Purpose Proverbs 4:18 But the path of the [uncompromisingly] just and righteous is like the light of dawn, that shines more and more (brighter and clearer) until [it reaches its full strength and glory in] the perfect day [to be prepared]. 2nd Corinthians 3:17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty (emancipation from bondage, freedom). 18 And all of us, as with unveiled face, [because we] continued to behold [in the Word of God] as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are constantly being transfigured into His very own image in ever increasing splendor and from one degree of glory to another; [for this comes] from the Lord [Who is] the Spirit. Our Concerns Psalm 19:12 Who can discern his lapses and errors? Clear me from hidden [and unconscious] faults. Jeremiah 17: 9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and it is exceedingly perverse and corrupt and severely, mortally sick! Who can know it [perceive, understand, be acquainted with his own heart and mind]?

Terms & Definitions 1. Prejudice- simply means to pre-judge; to judge someone, something or some situation without proper knowledge or insight 2. Discrimination- to make a difference in treatment or favor dependent upon superficial, prejudicial or inequitable factors 3. Stereotypes- prejudicial generalizations about particular groups of people
7
Terms & Definitions (Continued) 4. Racism- is any action, attitude or practice (whether conscious or unconscious) that subordinates an individual or group based on skin color or ethnicity. It can be enacted individually, culturally, systemically or institutionally: a. Individual Racism- manifests itself in an individual's attitudes and behaviors and is easiest to identify b. Systemic Racism- consists of policies and practices of organizations, which directly or indirectly operate to sustain the advantages of certain "social races" and at the same time denying the same access to those advantages to "other social races" (people of color). This type of racism is more difficult to address because it is implicit in the policies of organizations and is extremely, if not absolutely, pervasive.

Terms & Definitions (Continued) c. Institutional Racism- procedures, patterns and practices in all walks of life, i.e. education, housing, business, employment, professional organizations, religion, media etc., whose effect is to perpetuate and maintain the power, influence and well-being of one group over other groups. Although more subtle than individual racism, it is more destructive to humanity. d. Cultural Racism- is the basis all the other forms of racism, as is its value system which is embedded in a society which allows and supports discriminatory attitudes and actions based on erroneous perceptions of ethnic/racial differences, cultural superiority and inferiority.
