Generators and Power Production By Scott ChonisterBy Scott Chonister

Faraday’s Law The induced voltage in a coil is proportional to the product of the number of loops and the rate at which the magnetic field changes within those loops.

The function of a generator The generator converts mechanical energy to electric energy. This is done by rotating the coil in a stationary magnetic field. http://www.wvic.com/how-gen-works.htm http://www.wvic.com/how-gen-works.htm http://www.wvic.com/how-gen-works.htm

Generator is similar to a motor The differences in a motor electric energy is the input and the mechanical energy is the output whereas the generator’s input is mechanical energy and the output is electrical energy.

MHD Generator (magneto hydrodynamic) Instead of making charges move in a magnetic field via a rotating armature, a plasma of electrons and positive ions expands through a nozzle and moves at supersonic speed through a magnetic field.Instead of making charges move in a magnetic field via a rotating armature, a plasma of electrons and positive ions expands through a nozzle and moves at supersonic speed through a magnetic field.

Generator Effect When a wire with no initial current is moved downward, the electrons in the wire experience a deflecting force perpendicular to their motion. There is a conducting path in this direction that the electrons follow, thereby producing a current.

What is Electromagnetic Induction? It is the production of an electrical potential difference (or voltage) across a conductor situated in a changing magnetic flux.It is the production of an electrical potential difference (or voltage) across a conductor situated in a changing magnetic flux.
