What is religion? Religion is an organized system of beliefs.
Themes of Religion:
- morality (right & wrong) or justice “Code of Conduct”
- divinity – a deity “God” or deities “Gods”
- A doctrine of salvation
- A written text (Use of sacred stories)
III. Types:
Monotheism – Belief in one god. “Mono” = one
(Example: Judaism, Christianity, and Islam)
Polytheism – Belief in many gods. “Poly” = Many
(Example: Ancient Greek: Aphrodite goddess of love & Mars God of war.
Henotheism – Worship one god, but others deities might exist or have power. (Example: Hinduism)
Atheism – A denial of a belief in a God or Gods.

Beliefs of Islam:
- Islam literally means “submission to God”. (Purpose of life)
- Major Prophets: Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, and Jesus.
- Muslims believe that God or “Allah,” finally sent Muhammad to tell the truth about God to the world.
