School “Set-up” All 5th graders enter the building through the front door 5th and 6th grade are in separate wings on the first floor; 7th and 8th grade are in separate wings on the second floor Separate lunch Specialists every day Every student will be assigned a locker Please leave valuable items at home!!! Agenda Books All assignments should be written in your child’s Agenda Book daily. Please check your child’s Agenda Book nightly so that you know what exactly they have for homework. Agenda Books are also a good way to communicate with your child’s teachers. Please write notes to your child’s teachers with any questions or concerns.

Study Island Every student will be given a user name and password to access Study Island for ELA, Math and Science! Study Island is a Web-based computer program for students to enhance their skills. www.studyisland.com

Students will have a 30-minute class at the end of each school day to do the following: Ensure that they have written down all of their assignments in their Agenda Book Meet with a teacher for extra help if necessary Study interdisciplinary units (Wild Kingdom Project, eg.) Spend extra time preparing for MCAS Receive DIBELS testing Student Support Block (SSB)

Report Cards There are three marking terms per year. The terms end in December, March and June. A report card acknowledgement slip must be signed by a parent or guardian and returned to the student’s homeroom teacher. Interim reports are sent home at the mid-point of each term. They should also be signed and returned to school. All grades and comments found on interim reports and report cards can also be accessed on Aspen.
