Chapter 7 Circular motion and Gravitation Circular Motion -Any object revolving around a single axis undergoes circular motion. Tangential speed(vt)- the speed of an object along an imaginary line drawn tangent to the object’s circular path. r -Circular motion is a state of constant acceleration due to continuous changing of direction.

Chapter 7 Circular motion and Gravitation Centripetal Acceleration- (center seeking) acceleration directed toward the center of a circular path. Centripetal Force- the name given to the net force on an object to keep it moving in circular motion. This net force can be provided by any type of force or combination of forces.

Chapter 7 Circular motion and Gravitation Ex. The diameter of a spinning amusement park ride is 12 m. If it rotates at a speed of 8 m/s, what is the centripetal force on a 85 kg rider?
