“Oh, Canada…” "O CANADA" was first sung on June 24, 1880. But it was not officially proclaimed the national anthem until July 1, 1980 -- an entire century after it was first sung. The music was composed by Calixa Lavallée, a well-known composer; French lyrics to accompany the music were written by Sir Adolphe-Basile Routhier. (the French was written before the English). Many English versions were written and sung over time, but the one below is the one that was adopted.

The Canadian flag is red and white; these are the official colors of Canada. The flag features a red maple leaf with eleven points. The maple leaf is a symbol of Canada. The flag is twice as wide as it is tall. This flag was officially adopted on February 15, 1965.Canadian flag
