Facts about Leukemia 95% of diagnosed Leukemia illnesses are curable. Leukemia is a blood disease. Other blood diseases are: –Lymphoma –Hodgkin’s disease –Myeloma

How can you help? Last year, the schools in our community raised $230,440 for the Illinois chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma society. Across the nation, $6.1 million dollars was raised! All of this money goes into funding research as well as providing education and patient services.

Pennies for Pasta – Southbury! From January 24-February 18, Southbury is participating in Pennies for Pasta for the Leukemia and Lymphoma society. Southbury has a goal of raising $1,500!! All you have to do is bring in your pennies! Yes, we accept other forms of change, too, and yes, even dollars! You will all get a collection box to collect your pennies.

The Winning Class! The class that raises the most money gets A free pasta lunch donated by Olive Garden!

But… If your class raises $100, you will win a bronze pendant! $200, your class wins a silver pennant! $300, your class wins a GOLD pennant!

But that’s not all…. Southbury is creating a mural of HOPE to represent that there is so much hope even if you are diagnosed with this terrible disease. Think of images of hope. What does hope mean to you? Create a poster from your classroom about what hope means to you. We will add it to the Southbury wall of HOPE to remind us how important curing this disease is, and that there is ALWAYS HOPE!
