Animals Australia has more than 378 mammal species, 828 bird species, 4000 fish species, 300 species of lizards, 140 snake species, two crocodile species and around 50 types of marine mammal. More than 80 per cent of our plants, mammals, reptiles and frogs are unique to Australia and are found no-where else. Some of our best-known animals are the kangaroo, koala, echidna, dingo, platypus, wallaby and wombat. Koala BearsWombat

Koala Bears The koala is found in coastal areas of the mainland's eastern and southern regions, inhabiting Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia. It is easily recognizable by its stout, tailless body; round, fluffy ears; and large, spoon-shaped nose. Animals

Wombat Wombats are short- legged, muscular quadrupedarl marsupials that are native to Australia and are approximately 1 meter (40 in) in length, with short, stubby tails. All are members of the family Vombatidae. Animals

Major Man Made Features The Sydney Opera House is a multi-venue performing arts center in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Situated on Bennelong Point in Sydney Harbour, close to the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the facility is adjacent to the Sydney central business district and the Royal Botanic Gardens, between Sydney and Farm Coves.

Kangaroos The kangaroo is a marsupial from the family Macropodidae. In common use the term is used to describe the largest species from this family.
