Ronald McDonald House Assist families during their time away from the hospital. The Ronald McDonald House provides a haven where families can cook a meal, do laundry, relax, share a laugh, and find comfort and support. Ronald McDonald House of Iowa City opened in 1985, volunteers have helped make it possible for the doors to stay open for thousands of families in need.

Ronald McDonald House -Become a Volunteer In house, weekly volunteer Work one three-hour shift every week (shifts range from 9-12, 12- 3, 3-6, 6-9, seven days a week) Perform many important duties at the House. Such responsibilities include driving the Ronald McDonald House shuttle van to and from the hospital, taking families shopping for groceries, or helping clean rooms One-time prepare a meal Set-up, serve and clean up Healthy meal for 40-50 people Service project For volunteer groups Words such as dusting, sweeping, and cleaning all of the areas of the House

University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics College student volunteers help serve faculty, staff, patients and families in a variety of world-class care units here. Varying degrees of patient contact are available. UIHC-Featured Programs -All you can help Cherished Portraits Professional, private portrait sessions are offered to infants and children with life-threatening illnesses who are facing the end of life or for families who have lost a child. Email a Patient Use E-mail a Patient to send a personalized e-mail that's printed out and delivered right to a patient's room by hospital volunteers. Furry Friends Allows patients to experience the joy of a visiting pet, either their own or a dog certified for hospital visits. Memories Videos For patients battling life-threatening illness, a video scrapbook filled with pictures, video footage and sound can be created as a reflection of their life.

Dance Marathon About the Dance Marathon Provides year-round support to youth cancer victims and their families Students plan and participate in Family Events and Mini-Dance Marathons The Big Event is a 24-hour Dance Marathon where students assemble to celebrate the children survivors and remember the children who have passed away throughout the year.

Dance Marathon -How to get involved Sign up to become a dancer http://dancemarathon.uiowa.edu Assigned a Morale Captain who will help make sure you are able to raise you money, plan social activities for you and your group to meet people, and help keep you informed of what's happening with the organization To attend the Big Event dancers must raise $400 with a $50 registration fee After participating your first year, if you are interested, tons of leadership opportunities
