SMPS – the power source & its cables
SMPS – Switched Mode Power Supply Source of power supply to each & every component inside the cabinet Takes input from AC Mains, 230V. Converts into various voltages +3V, -3V, +5V, -5V, +12V, -12V, etc… Has lead cables which provide power to various cabinet components Has a Fan at the rear as a coolant. Motherboard: BIOS & related stuff
BIOS: Basic Input/Output System BIOS software is built into the PC (boot firmware) Stored on a non-volatile ROM chip on the motherboard First code that is run by a PC when powered on When the PC starts up, BIOS initialize and identify system devices (POST-Power On Self Test) video display card, keyboard and mouse, HDD, optical disc drive and other hardware. BIOS then locates boot loader software held on a peripheral device (designated as a 'boot device'), Eg: hard disk or a CD/DVD, Loads and executes that software, giving it control of the PC. This process is known as booting, or booting up or bootstrapping. Author: Ganesh Pai 21 Oct 2011
