God’s Imprint on Our Lives Fearfully & Wonderfully Made …we were made for God’s glory, pleasure & purpose “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” Psalm 139:13-14 “Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good….All these are empowered by one and the same Spirit, who apportions to each one individually as He wills. ” 1 Corinthians 12:7,11

1 Corinthians 12:15-20 “Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it. And God has placed in the church first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, of helping, of guidance, and of different kinds of tongues. Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles? Do all have gifts of healing? Do all speak in tongues? Do all interpret? Now eagerly desire the greater gifts. And yet I will show you the most excellent way.” 1 Corinthians 12:27-31

Pray to God and Call On the Holy Spirit “I will instruct and teach you in this way that you are to go; I will give you counsel; My eyes will be watching you.” Psalm 32:8 “But when He, the Spirit of Truth (the Truth-giving Spirit) comes, He will guide you into all the Truth (the whole, full Truth). For He will not speak His own message [on His own authority]; but He will tell whatever He hears [from the Father; He will give the message that has been given to Him], and He will announce and declare to you the things that are to come [that will happen in the future].” John 16:13 But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. Spiritual Gifts Defined A Spiritual Gift is an individual manifestation of grace from the Father that enables you to serve Him and thus play a vital role in His plan for the redemption of the world. A Spiritual Gift is special attribute given by the Holy Spirit to every member of the Body of Christ according to God’s grace for use within the context of the Body. A Spiritual Gift is an expression of the Holy Spirit in the life of believers which empowers them to serve the body of Christ, the Church. A Spiritual Gifts of believers enable the Church to accomplish tasks, develop the local congregation, serve the needs of the fellowship, and help it establish a community witness.

The Gift of Leadership The spiritual gift of leadership in the local church appears in two passages, Romans 12:8 and 1 Corinthians 12:28. The Greek word for the spiritual gift of leadership is “proistemi.” which translates to rule, to govern, to protect and to care for others. In these verses one with this gift is one who is set over others, or who presides or rules, or one who attends with diligence and care to a thing. In 1 Thessalonians 5:12, it is used in relation to ministers in general: “And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labor among you, and are over you in the Lord.” Here the word is translated “over you.”

Leadership What are the benefits of having good, Godly leadership? Respond to the statement: “Everything rises and falls with leadership.” The more skillful and effective the leadership, the better the organization runs and the more the potential for growth increases. In Romans 12:8 the word translated “ruler” indicates care and diligence with reference to the local church. The ruler is to attend to their work, with constant diligence, which is to watch over the flock and to be ready to sacrifice personal comfort to look after needy sheep. Paul also connects leadership to caring for others when he asks, “If someone does not know how to manage (proistemi) his own household, how will he care for God’s church?” 1 Timothy 3:5

Characteristics of Holy Spirit Gifted Leaders They understand that they are not absolute rulers, but are themselves subject to the One who is over them all, the Lord Jesus who is the Head of the church. They recognize that their position is by the appointment of the Lord and is under His direction. The truly gifted Christian leader recognizes that he is but a slave of Christ and a servant of those he leads. (Matthew 20:25–28). The apostle Paul recognized this position, referring to himself as a “servant of Christ Jesus” (Romans 1:1). Like Paul, the gifted leader recognizes that God has called him to his position; he has not called himself (1 Corinthians 1:1). James, the half-brother of the Lord Jesus, had the gift of leadership, as he led the church in Jerusalem (James 1:1; Acts 15:13–14 ).

The Christian leader leads others to grow in their ability to discern for themselves that which comes from God from that which is cultural or temporary. Like Paul, his words are not “wise and persuasive” from the viewpoint of human wisdom but are filled with the power of the Holy Spirit, leading and encouraging others to rest their faith on that very power (1 Corinthians 2:4–6) The goal of the gifted leader is to guard and guide those they lead Characteristics of Holy Spirit Gifted Leaders “It is impossible to rightly govern a nation without God and the Bible.” – George Washington “until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ” Ephesians 4:13

The Gift of Administration The Greek word for the spiritual gift of administration is “Kubernesis”. This is a unique term that refers to a shipmaster, a helmsman, or navigator. The literal meaning is "to steer," or “to pilot." It carries the idea of someone who guides and directs a group of people toward a goal or destination. We see variations of this word in verses like Acts 27:11, and Revelation 18:17. With this gift the Holy Spirit enables certain Christians to organize, direct, and implement plans to lead others in the various ministries of the Church. This gift is closely related to the gift of Leadership, but is more goal or task oriented and is also more concerned with details and organization. See also I Corinthians 12:28, Titus 1:4-5.

Characteristics of Holy Spirit Gifted Administrators This person will manage projects and is very efficient in what they do. People with this gift help save the church time and money by being able to see how things can be done better. People with this gift are able to really see the details clearly. They are good problem solvers, and they keep their eyes on achieving the goals in front of them. They have an ability to organize information, money, people, and more. A person with the gift of administration is a good strategic thinker, organized, has supervisory skills and manages people and projects well.

Characteristics of Holy Spirit Gifted Administrators Acts 6:1-7 tells us how the early Church selected their first ministry administrators; their requirements included being “full of the Spirit and wisdom”. Administrators are excellent detail people who prefer to focus on the business of the church or ministry project. They will naturally see all the details that must be addressed. Administrators excel at people dynamics. They naturally think of both individual needs and also how the individual can add value to an overall team dynamic.
