3 Review Terms Archetype: An original model or type after which other similar things are patterned; a prototype Stereotype: a widely held but fixed and oversimplified image or idea of a particular type of person or thing. Pilgrimage: a journey, especially a long one, made to some sacred place as an act of religious devotion: a pilgrimage to Lourdes.

4 Do Now Journal: Where would you like to take a pilgrimage? Why is this place important to you? Remember that “pilgrimage” does not just mean “nice vacation” – there should be something significant to this.

5 Examples Let’s look at some examples from popular TV shows and from film. How are archetypes/stereotypes used in these examples?

11 Your Own Examples In small groups, brainstorm and write down… – Examples of teenage stereotypes/archetypes/roles/jobs – Examples of adult stereotypes/archetypes/roles/jobs We’ll then share and discuss some of your examples with the group.

12 Homework For HW, write a 20-30 line verse description of your character. Look at the model for inspiration. Remember you can affirm or refute the stereotype of your character.
