VIEW FROM THE SUMMIT, 2001, 75 min 15 Six thousand police fill the streets as heads of state meet behind closed doors. A fence limits the tens of thousands of protesters from demonstrating in proximity to this meeting.. A broad range of perspectives are represented, from protesters to police to the participants inside the Summit. This film provides a real life case study in political activism, demonstrating concepts such as diversity of tactics, violent versus non-violent protest, views of security, human rights, social justice and the strengths and weaknesses of democracy..

Stage 1 half of the students organize social and political "Action Statements" along a continuum from acceptable to unacceptable while the other half of the class organize the same statements on an effective to ineffective continuum.
