ClickBiology Cambridge IGCSE Biology ClickBiology Characteristics of Living Things

ClickBiology There are 7 characteristics of living organisms: Movement Respiration Sensitivity Growth Reproduction Excretion Nutrition

ClickBiology Movement A change of position or place.

ClickBiology Respiration A chemical process in which oxygen is used to release energy from sugar molecules. Sugar (C 6 H 12 O 6 ) reacts with oxygen (O 2 ) to form Carbon dioxide (CO 2 ), water (H 2 O) and ENERGY

ClickBiology Sensitivity The ability to detect or sense changes in the environment (stimuli) and to make responses.

ClickBiology Growth A permanent increase in size by increasing cell number or cell size or both.

ClickBiology Reproduction The process that makes more of the same kind of organism

ClickBiology Excretion The removal of toxic materials, waste products and excess substances from an organism

ClickBiology Nutrition The process in which nutrients are taken into the body and converted into simpler substances used for energy, growth and tissue repair.

ClickBiology Summary Movement Respiration Sensitivity Growth Reproduction Excretion Nutrition
