The Kenya Anti-Corruption Commission DO’s: 1. Learn the Media. 2.Answer the 5 “W’s and H”. 3.Tell the Truth and have the facts right. 4.Avoid using jargon language. 5.Be as open as possible 6.Return reporters phone calls. 7.Coordinate with other departments for information. 8.Monitor media messages and content. 9.Develop messages that will give you impact. 10.Know the media timelines/deadlines DON’TS: 1.Don’t lie to the media. 2.Don’t say “No Comment”. 3.Don’t improvise or speculate. 4.Don’t put a comment “Off the Record”. 5.Get the facts right. 6.Don’t avoid answering the reporters phone calls. 7.Don’t let them state from a reliable source. 8.Don’t avoid acknowledging a problem when it’s there. 9.Don’t let the media set the agenda. 10.Don’t avoid consultations with management. 11. Don’t bribe for your story to be published.
