2.  The idea to expand our garden comes from the Will to be healthy and help our fellow underclassmen have something to work on in the near future as well as to contribute to the environment. Idea

3. Leveling After coming up with the perfect plan we began to till the ground with a tiller. This was done according to the specifications in our plans. We then began to pile up all of the grass so that it could be used as compose. After that, we leveled the tilled area to maintain a stable gardening area.

4. Planning The first step we took to make our idea come to life was to plan. Planning was made by drawing different possible ways in which we could expand and make use of every single resource we have. In order to make this possible we took several measurements to decide which of the many construction plans was ideal for the project.

5. Reforming After leveling the land, we began to re-shape the ground according to the measurements. By doing this we were able to maximized the size of our garden. Since our class is doing raised bed gardening, it was necessary for us to add as much soil as possible to keep the plants from coming in contact with any preexisting soil. This is a crucial step since it prevents toxins from getting into the plants.

6. Stabilization After we finished re-shaping the area, we had to add reinforcements that added stability to the newly formed area. This helps prevent miniature mudslides. To do so we used 2x8 wood planks to keep the garden from deforming. This also served as a guideline as to where our garden starts and ends.

7. Planting After all of the Planning, leveling, stabilization, and reforming were completed, there came the planting portion. After researching different species of plants, we were able to find the ones most suitable for our garden.

8. Showcasing After months of hard work our garden is ready for display for the students and visitors of Dr. Charles E. Brimm Medical Arts High School. This was all possible thanks to the help of AmeriCorps and the Children’s Garden.
