Heightened Awareness for Differential Oil Changes
4
What Most Vehicle Owners Don’t Know Differential gear lube needs to be changed, why? 1.Vehicle manufacturers require it. 2.34 to 93% Increased horsepower in newer vehicles stresses oil further. 3.Sump capacities have been lowered 4.Higher towing capabilities which can cause increased gear loading. 5.Hotter running differentials caused by less air-flow from improved aerodynamics. 6.Break-in wear particles need to be flushed out.

How Good are AMSOIL Gear Lubes? “Trivia” 1.Given a vehicle that travels 60 mph and has a tire height of 28 inches, the tire must make 663 full rotations in one mile. The ring gear turns the same amount of revolutions the tire does. 2.AMSOIL recommends 100,000 mile differential oil drains for normal service. 3.The amount of ring gear revolutions in 100,000 miles is 66,300,000. 4.If the gear ratio is 3.73 to 1 then the pinion gear turns 247,299,000 times in 100,000 miles. 5.According to Ford, petroleum gear oil needs to be changed every 3,000 miles or 1,989,000 ring gear revolutions. Conclusion: AMSOIL makes a GREAT line of gear lubes to protect gears for a quarter million revolutions and for less $.
