3 APPS RELATED TO HEALTH AND P.E.  iTriage  This app allows you to search symptoms, learn about potential causes, and directs you to the closest and appropriate doctor or treatment facility for you.  Sports Tracker  This app will track and analyze your different performances. It also stores all of your training data, keeps track of total calories burned, uses maps, times, and is a distance calculator.

4 SUPPORTING IMPROVED PHYSICAL FITNESS  Some technology that is being integrated into physical activities in classrooms are:  Accelerometers- A device that is used for the measuring rate of acceleration.  Pedometers- A device that counts the number of steps one takes.  Spirometers- A device that is used to measure long volume.

5 SUPPORTING IMPROVED PHYSICAL FITNESS (CONT.)  Blood pressure devices- A device used to monitor blood pressure.  Body Composition Analyzers- A device used to determine the percentage of body fat.  Heart Rate Monitor- A device used to measure one’s current heart rate.

6 EXERGAMING  Exergaming- video games that provide physical activity or exercises through interactive play.  As it does not provide as much activity or effort as a true sport, it does help provoke children interest in staying active.  Some examples of exergaming are:  Nintendo Wii  Dance Dance Revolution  Xbox Kinect

7 NUTRITIONAL ANALYSIS PROGRAMS  The Nutritional Analysis Program is a software that analyzes calorie intake and helps to monitor portions of the required food groups. It can calculate and graph individual nutrition and fitness goals.

8 ALTERNATES TO THE TEXTBOOK  Health- related sites are alternates to textbooks.  They can be accessed at any time on a multitude of devices such as computers, phones, tablets, iPads, and more.  Its fast and easy and you get the most updated information that is out there.

9 KIDS HEALTH (387)  There are three different sections to the site: Parents site, educators site, kids site, and teen site  Each site has it’s own specific information and material to meet the needs of the designated group.  Gives advice, answers to commonly asked questions, health information, and much more.

11 VODCASTING  Vodcasting is a term for video podcasting.  Simple videos posted on a course sire or other website, such as YouTube, to help get visual physical education information out.
