Technology in World War 2 BY: RACHEL ODENWELLER AND HALEY WRIGHT

CHANGES… TECHNOLOGY IMPROVED DRASTICALLY DURING WORLD WAR 2. TECHNOLOGY LIKE AIRCRAFTS, THE ATOMIC BOMB, FLAME THROWERS, RADARS, AND NUCLEAR WEAPONS WERE USED DURING WORLD WAR 2. MACHINE GUNS USED IN WORLD WAR 1 WERE UPGRADED DURING WORLD WAR II TO SUB MACHINE GUNS, WHICH WERE MORE CONVINENT AND YOU COULD HOLD IN ONE HAND THERE WERE MANY DIFFERENT AIRCRAFTS SUCH AS THE MOSQUITO AND THE SPIT FIRE.

NUCLEAR WEAPONS: THE FIRST NUCLEAR WEAPON WAS CREATED IN THE UNITED STATES. WEAPON WHICH GETS ITS POWER FROM NUCLEAR REACTIONS THROUGH FISSION OR FUSSION. NUCLEAR WEAPONS WERE SYMBOLS OF POWER IN MILITARY FIRST NUCLEAR BOMB (ATOM BOMB) WAS DROPPED ON HIROSHIMA IN JAPAN BY THE ENOLA GAY

AIRPLANES & ETC THERE WERE 18 DIFFERENT AIRCRAFTS FOR EXAMPLE: THE MOSQUITO AND THE SPIT FIRE. FAMOUS BOMBERS SUCH AS THE ENOLA GAY (B-29), WERE USED DURING WORLD WAR II NAZIS (SPECIFICALLY) USED ZEPPELINS (BLIMPS) PLANES SUCH AS THE SPITFIRE WERE CONSIDERED THE BEST “DOG FIGHTERS”

RADARS: A MACHINE THAT USES THE WAVES FROM THE RADIO TO LOCATE AIRCRAFTS, SHIPS, ETC… RADARS CAN DETECT RANGES WHERE OTHER EMISSIONS CANNOT.

WORLD WAR I TANKS: Tanks were known as ‘The Chariots of God’ at First, they were giant blocks of metal that could carry 1-2 personnel and travelled at about 5 kilometers per hour. They were not so reliable. Most broke down and a good example is the battle of Amiens. The British sent 525 tanks, and after four days, only 25 were left in working order.

WORLD WAR II TANKS THE SHERMAN TANK THE PANTHER THE GERMAN PANZER THESE WERE ALL SOME EXAMPLES OF TANKS USED DURING WORLD WAR II. -WORLD WAR II TANKS IMPROVED AS FAR AS THE SPEED ASPECT GOES, MEANING THEY DEFINETLY WENT FASTER THAN THOSE IN WORLD WAR I. -TANKS WERE ALSO SMALLER, MORE EFFICIENT, AND THEY HAD A TURBINE (THE LITTLE TURRET THAT SPINS AROUND ON TOP OF THE TANK)

The U.S SHERMAN TANK: IT WAS 19 FEET LONG AND COULD GO 26 MPH. THIS TANK WAS THE MOST IMPORTANT ONE THAT WAS USED DURING WORLD WAR II BECAUSE IT WAS THE MOST COMMONLY USED. OVER 50,000 WERE BUILT EACH TANK WAS CONTROLLED BY 5 PEOPLE THIS SPECIFIC TANK HAD A VARIETY AMOUNT OF ENGINES AND MACHINE GUNS STORED INSIDE OF IT

SUBMARINES/U-BOATS GERMANS MOSTLY USED SUBMARINES AND U-BOATS WHICH ARE USED UNDERWATER AND SHOOT UNDER WATER MISSLES TO TAKE OUT ENEMY SHIPS.
