1 Earthquakes Question 1 Focus: the point where an earthquake occurs. Seismic waves: the vibrations from an earthquake. Earthquake: a sudden movement in the Earth. Fault: a crack in the rock below the Earth’s surface. Epicentre: the point on the surface above an earthquake.

2 Question 2 a Inside buildings ceilings fall down, furniture topples over, windows break. Bridges collapse, roads and railways split apart. Gas pipes break and electrical cables ar epulled down. Poorly designed buildings collapse. Water pipes break.

3 Q2 b 7.0-7.9. It has not caused a tsunami and there is not widespread damage over hundreds of KM. There is serious damage to buildings and bridges have collapsed.
