Why include monitoring too? to highlight different roles of monitoring & evaluation to highlight relationship between monitoring & evaluation monitoring requires attention in its own right!

Evaluation questions is there an impact? Result indicators CIEs where possible (at programme & project level) regular surveys of supported businesses TBIEs at project level

Evaluation questions what interventions are most effective (i.e. have the largest impact)? Analysis of repeated surveys (to get large enough samples) comparison of CIE evidence where available consideration of TBIE evidence

Evaluation questions what types of businesses / jobs? area of PMC interest! analysis of monitoring data regular surveys of supported businesses

Other Evaluation questions (mainly qualitative) do we have a good balance of interventions? are we integrating the CCTs effectively? are our processes effective?

Learning from 2007-2013 Monitoring & evaluation aren’t ends in themselves Collecting business level data is really, really important Need to avoid duplication between project & programme level evaluation
