1 Labor Relations Ephesians 6:5-9

2 Ephesians 6:5-9 6:5 – “Slaves, obey your earthly masters with fear and trembling, with a sincere heart, as you would Christ,” 6:6 – “not by the way of eye service, as people pleasers, but as servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart,”

3 Ephesians 6:5-9 6:7 – “rendering service with a good will as to the Lord and not to man,” 6:8 – “knowing that whatever good anyone does, this he will receive back from the Lord, whether he is a slave a free.”

4 Ephesians 6:5-9 6:9 – “Masters, do the same to them, and stop your threatening, knowing that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and that there is no partiality with him.”

5 Background to Slavery Slaves were part of the homes.
Masters and slaves were in churches together. The New Testament doesn’t promote slavery. The New Testament doesn’t condemn slavery, but does condemn the abusive practices. New Testament principles led to the abolition of slavery.

6 The Spirit-filled Employee
Is obedient in their job Has God-fearing reverence in their job Has a goal in their job Is genuine in their job Has great enthusiasm in their job

7 The Spirit-filled Employee
Why the Spirit-filled employee works in this manner: The Spirit-filled employee is serving Christ. The Spirit-filled is doing the will of God. The Spirit-filled employee will be rewarded Spirit-filled employees are not wheelbarrow workers.

8 The Spirit-filled Boss
Treats his employees as he wants to be treated. No longer threatens his employees. Why? There is no partiality with God.

9 Conclusion Take Christ to work with you.
Authentic Christian living means being a Spirit-filled employee or boss.
