These animals are endangered because the people have hunt them for sell their meat and oil. In 1966, the International Whaling Commision became to protect the whales, although, today, they are endangered by climate change, noise and chemical pollution and ship collisions.

They have been the biggest animal in the world. They can grow to 33 meters. Their weight is about 80 to 130 tons, and their skin is gray with small spots, so they resemble blue for the ocean.

They live in all oceans of the world, but in Chile, the Alfaguara Proyect have seen them in the northwest of the big island of Chiloe.

The blue whale can live to 90 years. The main food of the blue whales is krill. The blue whale is usually a solitary animal, but we can see pairs of them in feeding zones or in reproductive periods. The only danger predator to them is the orca.
