1 Mosaic Objective: You will utilize cut paper techniques in order to fill spaces on your mandala. DRILL: 1.List the steps for cutting an exact shape (from Friday). 2.What is a mosaic? 3.What are mosaics made out of? 4.Who made them first? 5.Where do you find them?

2 How to Transfer an Exact Shape for Collage 1.Trace shape on paper. 2.Put oil pastel on back of tracing. 3.Get your collage paper. 4.Place tracing onto collage paper. 5.Re-draw the lines. 6.The oil pastel will transfer onto new paper. 7.Cut out shape. 8.Glue it in the space.

10 How to fill spaces with MOSAIC pieces: 1.Look through magazines for a color. 2.Cut it out in square/ rectangle shapes. 3.Put glue in space. 4.Use BACK OF PAINT BRUSH to pick up pieces and place them in their spot. 5.Arrange neatly against edges.

11 Tissue Paper Collage Objective: You will utilize cut paper techniques in order to fill exact spaces. DRILL: Get a marker and pair of scissors from center of group. WRITE THE UNDERLINED WORDS NEXT TO YOUR TISSUE PAPER SECTION: 1.How do you figure out what shape to cut the tissue paper to get it exact? Exact shape w/ tissue? 2.Why do you need to be careful with the glue and water on the tissue paper?

12 Tissue Paper 1.You can place it over your space. 2.Trace shape with marker. 3.Cut out shape. 4.Glue in place. Tissue paper bleeds. Be careful spreading the glue too much. (Bleeding might be a nice purposeful effect) EASY BECAUSE IT IS TRANSPARENT!

13 Applying Collage Techniques Objective: You will utilize determined criteria and apply practiced techniques in order to create a mandala. DRILL: WRITE THE UNDERLINED WORDS. 1.Which paper collage technique did you like the best? 2.Which collage technique will you use on your final mandala? The criteria on your final mandala is to fill at least 8 spaces with collage techniques (one or more). Sketchbooks due today and tomorrow with Collage Techniques finished.

17 Combining Techniques and Finding Supplies Objective: You will follow a set of directions in order to get ideas an apply them to your artwork. DRILL: YOU HAVE 15 MINUTES! 1.Get a piece of book paper. Use 2 colored pencils to create 2 areas of gradual shading/ value. 2.Cut one into square/ rectangle/ triangle. Cut other into circle/ oval. 3.Use black colored pencil or ball point pen to create designs on top of the shading. Unless it’s on the board. 1.Title a small spot: DESIGNS 2.Walk over to the board and list 3 #’s that have designs that you like and that are repeated: 3.How could you show the same design with a variety of sizes? Look in Folders/ Internet/ in your sketchbook for ideas for your designs.

Unless it’s on the board. 1.Title a small spot: SHADING 2.Walk over to the board and list 3 #’s that have SHADING: 3.Draw 2 squares and practice shading with gradual value.
