Solar Power By: Nora Ramadan

How it works

Renewable/nonrenewable Solar Power is definitely renewable because the power of the sun never runs out and never will. Even if there is an ice age, we will always have solar light to convert to solar power

Cost to buy/build solar power You can buy solar panels from a variety of different stores. You can build your own solar panel using anything from mirrors to aluminum foil. A solar panel from Home Depot can cost anywhere from $50-1500.

Positive aspects -100 square mile area of solar power can power up the whole nation -Reduces pollution -Populate remote (far away) locations -Clean power -No negative impact on wildlife -Renewable -Never runs out

Negative aspects The initial cost of solar cells is expensive It can only be used to generate electricity during daylight hours Bad weather can effect how well/efficiently the solar cells on your solar panel work Pollution levels can effect how well solar cells work. (not a huge factor)

Impact on environment “There are no waste products or dangerous gases that pollute the environment at all. This is precisely the kind of action we need to be taking to protect our environment.” -www.solarpoweristhefuture.comwww.solarpoweristhefuture.com -There is no negative impact on the environment -All impacts are only beneficial (reduced electric bill, cleaner energy source, no harmful waste, solar panels can be recycled)

What country uses the most and why: Germany is the country that uses the most solar power. -Currently use 9,785 MW (mega watts) -“The combination of a proven feed-in-tariff (FiT) scheme, good financing opportunities, a large availability of skilled PV companies, and a good public awareness of the PV “ -EPIA reports

European Photovoltaic Industry Ideal location in the U.S. HAWAII !!

Available in your state/community Solar power is always available in Minnesota. You can purchase solar panels from many stores. The bigger the solar panel, the higher the cost. Available at any time stores are open.
