His firm Hamzah & Yeang has offices in London, Kuala Lumpur, and Beijing. Dr. Yeang is the author of several books on ecological design and skyscraper design. His latest is “Ecodesign: Instruction Manual” by John Wiley & Sons (UK) in 2005. Dr. Yeang regularly travels and teaches at schools like University of Hawaii, University of New South Wales, Curtin University, and University of Malaya. Over the past 37 years, Kerry Hill has distinguished himself as an architect of exceptional sensibility and expertise - encouraging a more progressive and enquiring regionally-sensitive approach to the design and construction of buildings predominantly across the Asia-Pacific region. He is known internationally for evolving an Asian resort architecture that is both climate and site-specific, drawing on indigenous forms of tropical building to produce high quality hotels and resorts across the region. Celebrated examples include the the Datai Hotel in Pulau Langkawi, Malaysia, winner of the prestigious international Aga Khan Award for Architecture in 2001. Khan “Funding of Global Projects” Mr. Arif Ahamed is working as Project Analyst in the Energy and Infrastructure unit of the World Bank Office Dhaka, Bangladesh. Mr. Ahamed has been working to provide management support for the World Bank’s urban, water and sanitation programs in Bangladesh. Prior to that, Mr. Ahamed also served as Research Analyst at the World Bank’s Private Sector Development and Finance Unit in Bangladesh. Mr. Ahamed’s expertise includes program support and management of urban services including water and sanitation and research support including statistical analysis. Zahed H. Khan is currently the Senior Urban Specialist of the Energy & Infrastructure team at the World Bank Office, Dhaka. In this capacity, he anchors the World Bank's involvement in the urban sector in Bangladesh and has worked with the Government in preparation and implementation of projects on urban infrastructure and municipal capacity building. 15.00 - 15.30

In addition to project implementation, she has worked on project planning, appraisal, evaluation and strategic planning. She is now employed by UN-Habitat, working with the Government of Bangladesh on a community-driven urban poverty reduction project in eleven towns around the country. “Global Partnering is also our own Local Challenge” Alison Barrett P2P 7 14.00 - 15.00 Presentations by Participating Architectural Practices Candice McDeigan is qualified as a Attorney at Law in Trinidad and Tobago and as a Solicitor of England and Wales. She has previously worked with a major law firm in London but in 2002 she was employed as a Legal and Procurement Specialist for the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) in the Asia Office based in Kuala Lumpur. She is currently employed as a Procurement Specialist in the Central Operations Services Office (COSO) of the Asian Development Bank (ADB). As a Procurement Specialist, Ms McDeigan provides operational support to project divisions of ADB, in particular, the recruitment and contracting of consultants for ADB's technical assistance projects and grants. She also provides input on project design and advises on procurement actions undertaken by executing agencies of various member country governments. Procurement Specialists in COSO conduct negotiations of high value consulting contracts on behalf of the ADB as well as provide training throughout ADB member countries. She set up Architects Without Frontiers (Australia) and is involved with urban planning and design projects on war-devastated sites, from Mostar to Katmandu.
