5 How to access parent information for the Navo Band  Log on to www.charmsoffice.comwww.charmsoffice.com  Click on the Enter/Login on the upper right hand side of the screen  Choose Parents/Students/Member and enter the following login: navomsband  This will bring up the main parent page. This will allow you to look at your child’s contact information and band account.  The password for your child’s account is their student ID (unless you have changed this in the past). We recommend keeping the ID as their password since this will be their ID until they graduate and CHARMS will be used through HS.  Please go into your child’s account when you get a chance and make sure your contact info is up-to-date. We will use this to send emails out to you about important information and upcoming events.

7  Band Fee $50 (all students) ▪ This fee covers: ▪ Band T-Shirt ▪ Band Method Book for Class ▪ Contest and Festival entry fees ▪ Food while away at contest ▪ Music and other items for the band to use throughout the year  School Owned Instrument Fees (required by DISD) ▪ Percussion is $50 per year ▪ All other school instruments are $100 per year (Oboe, Bassoon, Bass Clarinet, Tenor Saxophone, Baritone Saxophone, French Horn, Euphonium, Tuba)

8  Catalog Sale in October (more details coming soon)  Practice-A-Thon  Pledge Week – January 12  Practice Week – January 19  Collection Week – January 26 ▪ All money due by February 3 rd -All students are encouraged to collect at least $50 in pledges/donations. -Prizes and rewards will be given out to top earners and to earners who meet the $50 goal. We will also reward those who turn in their money on time!

9  Private Lessons at Navo MS:  Teachers are professionals on their instruments and approved by the NMS band directors and DISD Fine Arts.  One lesson per week  $18 per lesson for 22 minutes (during class); $20 for 30 minutes  Before or After School times as well as during your child’s band class  Payment and Scheduling of Lessons are between you and the private lesson teacher.  Private lessons are not mandatory but are STRONGLY encouraged.  7 reasons you should consider private lessons for your child…  One-on-one attention  Greater accountability  Instruction based on learning styles  Pursue individual interests  Provides a sense of identity  Not hampered by group ability  Opportunity to perfect individual skills

11 CASUAL UNIFORM  Band T-Shirt  Blue Jeans (no shorts/capris)  Tennis Shoes Used for the Fall Concert and Sandy Lake Fun Fest Competition DRESS UNIFORM  Sunday Best Used for the Winter Concert, Solo/Ensemble Contest, and the Spring Concert.

23  October 3 – Ryan HS 8 th Grade Night  October 7 – Fall Concert, Navo Gymnasium  October 18 – All-District Auditions (Symphonic Band required, Concert Band optional)  October 21 – 8 th Grade Football Game Performance (Concert/Symphonic Band)  October 24 – Denton HS 8 th Grade Night  October 27 – Sounds of the Stadium, Apogee Stadium (Concert/Symphonic Band)  November 8 – All-Region Auditions (All District Members required, all others optional)  December 6 – All District Clinic and Concert, Strickland MS (All District Members)  December 13 – All Region Clinic and Concert, (All Region Members)  December 16 – Winter Concert  February 10 – Pre-UIL (Concert/Symphonic)  March 11 – UIL (Concert/Symphonic)  May 9 – Solo/Ensemble Contest at Navo MS  May 12 – Spring Concert  May 14 – Start of EOY 8 th grade exams/auditions for next years 7 th and 8 th graders  May 21 – Cluster Percussion Concert at Ryan HS (Percussion Students)  June 1 – Band Audition Results posted for 2015-2016 school year.

DRESS UNIFORM  Classic “Concert Black” – This means students will provide and wear all black dress clothing (a solid black shirt with no embellishments). See below for more specific info for boys and girls.  Girls – All Black: Blouse (no sleeveless shirts), Dress Pants or Long Skirt (must cover knees when seated), Black Socks or Black Panty Hose, and Low- Heel Solid Black Dress Shoe.  Boys – All Black: Collared long sleeve black button down dress shirt, Dress Pants, Black Belt, Black Dress Socks (must cover ankles), and solid Black Dress Shoes

25 DRESS UNIFORM CONTINUED  We will wear Classic “Concert Black” attire for our Winter Concert, Pre- UIL, UIL, and Spring Concert.
