THE CARBON CYCLE

I like turtles. This is Mr. Turtle. He is a part of the carbon cycle.

Using Photosynthesis, carbon is extracted from the atmosphere. Then it is converted into compounds like glucose.

Next, animals like me eat those plants and obtain the carbon compounds.

Then producers and consumers break down the compounds in the process of aerobic respiration.

In this process, carbon is released back into the atmosphere in the form of carbon dioxide. CO 2

Over time, dead organisms are buried under the ground and are compacted into fossil fuels.

Carbon Dioxide from the atmosphere dissolves into ocean water.

If the ocean water warms up, the CO 2 will be released back into the atmosphere. CO 2

Shells from the ocean are made from carbon dioxide molecules. When the organisms die they are buried in the ocean floor and compressed into limestone.

When the limestone is released, it is reintroduced into the atmosphere as acidic rain.

AND THAT’S THE CARBON CYCLE AND THAT’S THE CARBON CYCLE, MAN

AND THAT’S THE CARBON CYCLE, MAN-ILOW!

TAKE IT AWAY BARRY!!!

Stay in skool!
