Prepositions 1.First word in a prepositional phrase. 2.Prepositional phrase – begins with a preposition and ends with a noun or pronoun called the OBJECT OF THE PREPOSITION

Linking/Helping Verbs 1.Help the main verb (usually action). 2.The main verb determines if the phrase is action or linking. IF the main verb is action, the phrase is action; IF the main verb is linking, the phrase is linking

Miscellaneous 1.Not/Never – adverbs…always 2.Adjective Phrases can only FOLLOW the noun modified. 3.Diagramming: When a word applies to all words in a space ship (see example on the board).
