Homes are Better than Shelters By: Nico Palazzi

In a shelter dogs are locked in cages. The cage locks them out of the real world. Instead of being loved they sit in the cage all day and stare at the world around them. At most homes dogs are treated with a lot of respect. Their owners play with them and cuddle with them. Dogs will form a relationship with their owner. In a cage they will not do that. Shelter Home

When dogs are at home they are loved. When a person gives a dog a hug, the hug is a symbol of kindness. That makes dogs feel comfortable.

At a shelter dogs are very lonely. People just walk by and don’t recognize that this dog has no family, that this dog has to be here every day of his/her life. When a dog is cuddled with they feel more comfortable with the person. It shows that the person is welcoming the dog. At a shelter dogs are not welcomed. Home SHELTER

At a shelter the dogs are invisible. It is almost like they don’t even exist. They are important, though at a shelter no one recognizes that.

At home dogs can be used as a great companion. Both the person and the dog will play with each other a lot. That makes the dogs feel loved. At a shelter a dog has no companion. At a shelter dogs get scared, they don’t know where they are, and nobody cares about them. They have nobody to play around with, so all they do is sit in a corner and shiver. HOME Shelter

If an owner really cares for their dog then he/she will train them. When you train a dog you help them manage their excitement. That shows that you care for the dog. HOME

At a shelter dogs are trapped. They are untrained animals with a lot of excitement, locked in a cage. It is unfair to do to dogs. All they have is a little tiny area to run around in with no escape. SHELTER

Dogs want a home. They want to be cared for. They don’t want to live in a tight space with no one loving them. They want a home, an actual home.
