1. He is a well-known scientist. 2. He was born at the beginning of the 19 th century, in 1809. 3. As a boy, Charles collected all kinds of things, minerals, birds 'eggs, insects. 4. After 3 years of study at Cambridge University he made a voyage round the world. During the 5 year voyage he studied many different kinds of plants and animals in all parts of the world. 5. Little by little Darwin built up his famous theory. 6. His theory of evolution opened a new period in the development of the science of biology, the Darwinian period. 7. Charles Darwin died in 1882 and was buried in Westminster Abbey. Charles Darwin

1. Joseph Turner is a famous English artist. 2. He was born at the end of the 18 th century, in 1775. 3. At school he was fond of nature, and often went along on trips through England and Wiles. 4. While travelling, he liked to draw ruined abbeys and castles. 5. He was a master of water-colours. 6. He was famous for the wonderful colours in his pictures. 1. John R.R. Tolkien is a famous English writer. 2. He was born at the end of the 19 th century, in 1892. 3. At school Tolkien was fond of languages, but not just modern languages – he also liked ancient languages. He spoke six ancient languages and even made up his own languages. 4. At Oxford University he studied English language and literature. 5. John R.R. Tolkien became an outstanding linguist. 6. He became famous, when his books were published. He wrote several books “The Hobbit”, “The Lord of Rings”. In his books he describes a fairy-tales world, where Hobbits, magicians, elves and warriors live. 7. John R.R. Tolkien died in 1973. 1. Marilyn Monroe is a famous American actress. 2. She was born at the beginning of the 20 th century, in 1926. 3. At school she was fond of theatre and often went to the New York's theatre. 4. While watching the plays, she liked to dance and to sing songs. 5. She was an outstanding actress. 6. She was famous for the wonderful plays in the films. 7. Marilyn Monroe died in 1962.
