2. Introduction First commercially introduced in 1980, Ethernet cable is the still the most popular way of networking for home and office. Ethernet cabling technology was invented by Xerox Park and it’s very secure to network. And most importantly, it’s most the compatible networking cable ever invented There are six different types of Ethernet cable: Category or Cat 3, 5, 5e, 6, 6a and 7 and they differ for their transmission speed and interface. In this illustration, I will explain the steps in building the most popular and used Category 5e Ethernet Cable.
