2. ONLINE DIELECTRIC MONITORING SYSTEM  In HV equipment, dielectric oil has the additional function of quenching the arcs that are produced under the normal operation. The byproducts of these switching arcs degrade the oil’s breakdown strength. It is the dielectric breakdown strength of the oil that determines the oil’s ability to quench the arc.
