6 The Landforms of New York Landforms  Appalachian Plateaus  Piedmount Plateau  Finger Lakes Major Rivers & Mountains  Adrirondacks  Appalachians  Hudson River Much of New York was covered in ice during the cycles of Pleistocence continental glaciation. The glacial deposits, called morains created the Finger Lakes. New York shares with Ontario one of the greatest waterfalls on Earth, Niagra Falls, which is partly glacial in origin. Upstate New York showcases two heraldic mountain systems : the Adirondack Mountains and the Appalachians. The Adirondack Mountains derive from a great dome of ancient Precambrian rocks up to a billion years old that are structually like the Canadian Shield to the north. http://en.wikipedia.org http://www.niagrafallslive.com http://en.wikipedia.org

In 1898, his family moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming, where he attended Kearney Military Academy. Within a few years, his family returned to New York, and he graduated from Hamburg High School in 1907. Four years later, he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Rochester, where he wrote his first play, Perfectly Harmless, for the University Dramatic Club. Abbott then went to Harvard University, where he studied playwriting under George Pierce Baker. In 1881 their company was incorporated, with Babcock as president and Wilcox as vice president. In 1997, Babcock was inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame.
