3 What is the difference between Portions and Servings? A "portion" is the amount of a specific food you choose to eat for dinner, snack, or other eating occasion.  Portions, of course can be bigger or smaller than the recommended food servings.

4 A "serving" is a unit of measure used to describe the amount of food recommended from each food group.  It is the amount of food listed on the Nutrition Facts panel on packaged food or the amount of food recommended in the Food or Dietary Guidelines for citizens. For example, 6-11 servings of whole grains are recommended daily. A recommended serving of whole grains would be 1 slice of bread or 1/2 cup of rice or pasta.

8 Keep in mind added sugar, milk syrup Keep in mind that many of today's coffee drinks have a lot of added sugar, milk and syrup which increase the calories. Tip Tip: It is best to stick with plain coffee and add your own milk and sweetener or ask for sugar free syrup. Today's 16 ounce cup of coffee has 350 calories. This is 305 calories more than a cup of coffee 20 years ago.
