What to do next… Finish the front page of your group worksheet. Mr. Thompson is the owner of the company whose product you are advertising. He must approve your idea before it is “produced” (drawn for step #7) Once it is approved, draw your ad. Decide how your group will present it to the class. This can be as simple as showing your drawing on the doc cam and explaining your metaphor or as complex as acting out a 30-second commercial.

Today’s Question: What’s the difference between a direct metaphor and an implied metaphor—and why do we care? Write 3 things on the post-it note: 1.Your name 2.Whether you think the following metaphor is direct or implied: “Andy’s wife asked him to fetch their dinner.” 3.Write a 1-5 for how well you understand the difference between implied and direct metaphors. 4.Stick your post-it to the smartboard.
