After the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed Executive Order 9066 which ordered all Japanese Americans to evacuate the West Coast
Resulted in the relocation of 120,000 people to one of ten internment camps across the country

Americans began to think that all Japanese Americans were involved in the attack and had to be taken out of society to prevent any future attacks
Despite the fact that they didn’t have any evidence, Non- Japanese Americans thought that the Japanese Americans would remain loyal to Japan and needed to be taken out of society to prevent future attacks

Japanese Americans were housed in "tar paper-covered barracks of simple frame construction without plumbing or cooking facilities of any kind."
over crowded and unsanitary conditions
not much medical care (few nurses and even fewer doctors)
