17 College Application Process Varies by college Complete application – Most are available online – Thoroughly complete application – Pay application fee – Request Transcripts from College and Career Counseling Office – Submit your standardized test scores ACT/SAT – If letters of recommendation are required please provide your two weeks for those to be completed

18 College Application Process Watch deadlines as they vary from college to college Offers of Acceptance – Usually based on six semesters of course work Offer may be withdrawn based on the final transcript provided Students should continue to work hard Changes to the students schedule can affect admission decisions, scholarship offers, honors programs, etc…

19 College Application Process Common Application www.commonapp.org Allows you to complete one application for multiple schools, counselor finalizes application Kentucky participants include Centre College, Transylvania University, and the University of Kentucky Approximately 500 colleges and universities participate

20 Early Decision vs Early Action Early Decision – Binding – Apply early (usually by November 1) – Receive an admission decision early (usually by December) – Agree to attend college if accepted and a financial aid offer that is considered adequate by the family – Withdraw all other applications if accepted by Early Decision

21 Early Decision vs Early Action Early Action – Apply early – Receive admission decision early in admission cycle – varies by college – Consider acceptance offer – do not have to commit upon receipt – Give college a decision no later than May 1 - national response date

23 Kentucky Educational Excellence Scholarship (K.E.E.S) https://www.kheaa.com/website/kheaa/kees? main=1 https://www.kheaa.com/website/kheaa/kees? main=1 Provides scholarships to students who earn at least a 2.5 GPA each year they attend a certified Kentucky high school May also earn awards for ACT/SAT scores and Advanced Placement test scores
