3. What were his goals? He wanted to be and was a major contributor to gain of civil rights for colored people He wanted all other blacks to receive the same education as him He wanted everyone to be treated equally To stand politically for blacks and assure that everyone had the same rights and same voice in politics and everyday life

Methods Du bois wrote 21 books, published over 100 essays and articles Writer of the “ Suppression of the African Slave Trade to the United States of America” which was No.1 in the Harvard historical series Wrote the monthly magazine for NAACP “ Crisis” which was sarcastic and rude towards whites and serving as a source of information and pride to African Americans

5. What impact did he have on peoples lives in his era? Gave courage to other blacks to peruse an education and have a voice in society He taught other blacks school in the summers who weren’t as fortunate as he was receiving such an satisfying education Taught everyone to be strong willed and if you wanted something bad enough with hard work and dedication you could achieve it

6. How did people respond to Du Bois? Other blacks admired his voice and determination where he had such a big voice in a white mans world He even gave inspiration to other whites by for filling his dreams A lot of people took response to his books and looked forward to his new articles every month and his new novels he would write

7. What is their Legacy? His legacy was to be as involved in politics as a white man Continue to write books and reveal how cruel slavery was Receive as much as an education as possible threw hard work and scholarships The majority of his work was for gaining equal treatment for black people in a world dominated by whites and toward presenting and proving that blacks are the same as anyone else and their should be justice for what happened to them all those years in slavery

8. What can we learn from them? Dubois can set an example for all of us that no matter what obstacles we face, with hard work and determination we can peruse whatever we put our minds to. Dubois also set an example that no matter skin color, mental state, sex, age, or anything that can make a person unique it doesn’t give anyone the right to treat someone differently

9. Interesting Facts He was one of the founders of NAACP ( National association for the Advancement of colored people) and served as its director of publicity and research. NAACP is still around today. Dubois was a member of the Socialist party from 1910- 1912 Du bois travelled widely throughout Russia and China in 1958 He died in Ghana, Africa 1961 His asserters were brought over from slavery
