In the same year, 71% of the 24.8 million visits made by overseas residents to the UK, were by air.

In the same period, 18% of overseas residents’ visits to the UK used sea transport (4.5 million trips).

The mass market for discount airline fares and the expansion of regional airports in the UK and wider Europe demonstrates this development.
