OUR PURPOSE We are not an honor roll Established in 1921 to recognize and encourage academic achievement, and to develop leadership, service, and character To be relevant, all members need to be involved

CURRENT PROJECTS NHS Induction Philanthropy Tutoring Auction NHS Awards All of these can be improved. What else do we want to work on? YOU must take ownership!

NHS INDUCTION Thursday, November 14 th at 7:00 pm Dress in Mass Attire All members must attend Required set up at 2:45 Rehearsal for new members / speakers Reception following the event Required clean up

PROJECT STARFISH What is it : St. Vincent de Paul’s Transitions Program, helping people get into stable housing one family at a time. What have we done in the past? 2012-13 raised $10,500 We need student ideas and direction

PEER TUTORING What have we done in the past? How will we move forward? Proposal: Tuesday and Thursday in the two rooms dedicated for Academic Support.

AUCTION Saturday, May 3 rd Students in Christian Leadership will work the event itself The rest of us will report for tear-down on Sunday morning, May 4 th Specific details TBA

NHS AWARDS Wednesday, May 21 st We will set up for the event after school on Tuesday, May 20 th Dress in Mass Attire for the event Yearbook photo

SERVICE REQUIREMENTS Choose to be involved in either Peer Tutoring or Philanthropy or both Identify needs, opportunities, and partners Organize into subcommittees Select a committee chairperson Take ownership and make suggestions Report back

SELECTION PROCESS Candidates: Declare your interest in a specific position by emailing Mrs. Boyd at bboyd@marisths.org by no later than 3:00 pm tomorrow. bboyd@marisths.org All members: Pick up a ballot from Mr. Ragan in his office between Monday and Thursday next week (November 7 th ). Results will be posted on our webpage on Friday. maristnhs.weebly.com

CODE OF CONDUCT Scholarship: Maintain GPA Leadership: Attend meetings, get involved Service: Service Projects Character: Behavior Due by Thursday, November 7 th to Mr. Ragan.

Dues ($20) Due by Thursday, November 7 th to Mr. Ragan. Honor cords to be worn at graduation by all NHS members in good standing. Club T-Shirts.

NEXT MEETING Wednesday, November 20 th during block lunch. Location TBA. Register for Remind 101 Action items: Divide into Tutoring and Philanthropy subcommittees Come prepared to discuss ideas, problems, and solutions
