Public Speaking Digital Artifact By: Gurmansi Kang

Skills and Tips  Artifact: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fUgwc2WlPrk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fUgwc2WlPrk  Description: This video shows us how to be a good presenter. It has tips on how to prepare for a presentation, how to present, and what not to do.

Summary/Explanation of Specific Skills/Learning Outcomes That Artifact Demonstrates: This video shows a lot of different skills and tips on public speaking. Something that it teaches is preparation. Always prepare for your presentation. A way that you can do this is creating a bubble map. Another tip is to appear confident. If you look confident your audience will enjoy listening to you but if you do not, they will get bored and lose interest. Some things that you can do to seem confident are stand straight, make eye contact, speak loud and clear, and use hand gestures. Also be yourself. Do not keep your personality hidden. If you are funny, don’t be afraid to use your sense of humour.

Challenges or Areas for Continued Learning: My challenge for the public speaking unit is to try to seem more confident. When I present, I do not make a lot of eye contact. It is something that I would like to improve on.

Confidence  Artifact:  Description: This image shows a guy giving a speech with everybody watching him. He is sweating because of his nervousness.

Summary/Explanation of Specific Skills/Learning Outcomes That Artifact Demonstrates: The learning outcomes that this image shows is that you should not feel like everybody is judging you. Think of your audience as a group of friends that you can comfortably chat with. Your presentation should still be formal but you should not be as nervous. Appear confident so that your audience wants to listen and so that they do not tune you out.

Challenges or Areas for Continued Learning: Another challenge for public speaking is to try to seem less nervous. Even though I am not as nervous as I used to be before this class, I think I can always improve more. I hope that I can be very confident when presenting by the end of this class.
