University of Salzburg The Paris Lodron University in Salzburg was founded by Prince Archbishop Paris Lodron in 1622 The University was initially set up and maintained by a federation of Benedictine abbeys from Salzburg, Switzerland, Bavaria and Austria Courses taught were theology, philosophy, law and medicine. After Salzburg was annexed by Bavaria in 1810, the University was closed

University of Salzburg In 1962, the University of Salzburg was re- established with a Faculty of Catholic Theology and of Philosophy Nowadays there are 4 faculties: Faculty of Catholic Theology Faculty of Law Faculty of Cultural and Social Sciences Faculty of Natural Sciences
