IPAC (Intellectual Property Awareness Campaign) Two day events include speakers from USPTO, US export assistance, Department of Justice, and local US attorneys. The event also provides one-on-one consultations between SMEs and our IP experts.

China Road Show Teaches companies that are doing business or wish to do business in China on how to protect and enforce IP rights in that country Two day programs: first day with government officials and legal experts that know the Chinese legal system; second day features break out session focusing on industry-specific IP issues.

China Road Show China is a major source of counterfeited "fast moving consumer goods" (e.g. shampoo, toothpaste, batteries). “Even if you do not think you are doing business in China, you are doing business in China.” The Middle East is a destination market for counterfeit automotive parts manufactured primarily in China and India.

International Capacity Building Bilateral, regional, multilateral - APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) - ASEAN (Association of South East Asian Nations), -CARICOM (Caribbean Community and Common Market) -PIF (Pacific Island Forum) - MEPI (Middle East Partnership Initiative) - SIECA (Central American Secretariat for Economic Integration).

Snapshot of Capacity Building Programs In FY 2007, we had more than 100 capacity building in-country programs where experts will travel to foreign countries Also, training at USPTO for foreign delegates to come learn

Technical Assistance in the Middle East In FY07, 138 Middle East Officials have participated in IP programs Technical assistance on legislative revisions and drafting in Bahrain, Jordan, Morocco, and Oman for FTA implementation. Technical expertise is provided to countries, such as Algeria, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, and Yemen in the context of WTO accession efforts.

GIPA Held at USPTO headquarters in Alexandria, VA. Monthly basis with about thirty – forty delegates attending from around the world. Case studies, field visits, discussions with experts and IP rights holders

Success Stories UAE – recently cut business software piracy from 86% in 1995 to 33% in 2006 Kuwait – significant improvement in enforcement by conducting raids Jordan - Customs established an IPR Section and is in the process of constructing an automated system for registered trademarks
